Your privacy, protected on device
Voxter is designed to process speech and translation directly on your iPhone. This privacy policy explains what data is processed, how it is stored, and which choices you have when using the app.
Effective date: 2025
Core privacy principles
Voxter is built around three simple rules.
- Speech and translation are processed on your device instead of remote servers.
- No user account is required and the app can be used without registration.
- You stay in control of what is stored on your device and can delete it at any time.
What Voxter works with locally
To provide captions and translation, Voxter needs temporary access to certain types of data on your device. This processing is performed locally and is not automatically sent to the developer.
Microphone audio
- Voxter listens through your microphone while a listening session is active.
- Audio is streamed directly into on-device speech models in memory and is not stored as audio files by the app.
- When you stop listening, the app stops accessing the microphone.
Transcripts and captions
- Recognized text and translations can be shown on the screen as captions.
- Conversation history may be stored on your device so you can scroll back and review it.
- You can delete history by removing specific conversations if the app provides this option, or by deleting the app which removes all local data.
Diagnostic data on device
- The app may keep lightweight technical information such as last model initialization time or settings state to improve performance and reliability.
- This information stays on your device and is used only by the app itself.
What is shared with the developer or third parties
The goal is to avoid sending your speech or captions anywhere unless you choose to share them yourself.
- Voxter does not automatically upload microphone audio to developer servers.
- Voxter does not automatically upload your transcripts or conversation history.
- If you contact support and choose to share screenshots, screen recordings, or logs, those materials are handled solely to investigate your request.
- The app relies on Apple services such as the App Store and system frameworks. Any data collected by Apple is governed by Apple privacy policies.
Access to iOS system features
Microphone
The microphone is required to capture speech for real time captions. You can change microphone access at any time in iOS settings. If access is disabled, the app cannot provide captions or translation.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is used to connect an optional button accessory. The accessory is used only as a remote control to start listening or translation. No personal data is read from the accessory.
Live Activities and notifications
Voxter may use Live Activities to show listening status and recent captions on the lock screen. This information is shown only on your device and is not stored on developer servers.
Use by children
Voxter is intended for general audiences and does not target children specifically. The app does not create user profiles and does not ask for personal details such as name, email, or date of birth inside the app.
Parents or guardians who allow children to use the app should supervise usage and review this policy. If a parent believes that personal information was provided to the developer directly, they can contact support to request deletion.
How long data is kept
- Audio processed by the speech model is kept only in memory while listening is active.
- Caption history is stored locally until you remove it or uninstall the app.
- Support communications that you send by email may be stored as long as needed to resolve your issue and to comply with legal obligations.
You can erase all local Voxter data on your device by deleting the app from iOS. This removes conversation history and settings stored by the app.
How your data is protected
- Processing speech and translation on the device reduces the amount of data transmitted over the network.
- Local storage uses mechanisms provided by iOS such as app sandboxing, which prevents other apps from directly reading Voxter data.
- If you send information by email to support, standard email security practices apply. You should avoid including more personal data than necessary to describe the problem.
Updates
The privacy policy may be updated when new features are added or platform rules change. The latest version will always be available in the app and on this page. Continued use of Voxter after changes means you accept the updated policy.
Questions or requests
If you have any questions about this privacy policy, want to clarify how Voxter handles data on your device, or wish to request deletion of information shared directly with support, you can contact the developer.
